Islamic Relief Worldwide – which is committed to transparency, accountability, and excellence – is an affiliate member of the INGO Accountability Charter Company.
“Islamic Relief is transparent about how we spend our funding, and the results we achieve,” said Chief Executive Officer Dr Mohamed Ashmawey when we were approved to join the rigorous international charter in 2013.
“We are therefore delighted to join the Charter, which emphasises valuable principles such as good governance, responsible advocacy, effectiveness, and ethical fundraising.
“Membership also opens up yet another forum in which we can work with other leading civil society organisations. We look forward to working together to further raise standards and boost the impact of efforts to eradicate poverty and suffering.”
The INGO Accountability Charter is a commitment of international NGOs to a high standard of transparency, accountability and effectiveness. It provides the only global, fully comprehensive and cross-sectoral accountability framework for NGOs, driven by NGOs.
Other Charter members include Amnesty International, Greenpeace, and Oxfam.
