Islamic Relief has distributed food to more than 500 families in Nepal.
Experts from our Disaster Response Team provided food parcels to the villages of Bhimtar and Shipapokhari in the Sindhpal Chowk district following assessment.
Many homes in the villages have been completely destroyed. With the monsoon season imminent, the need for shelter is increasing.
Haseeb Khalid, from the team, said: “The community was horrified by the devastation. New mothers and children are the most affected by the earthquake and already lack the nutrition they need.
“Families are asking for clean water, food, blankets and shelter. But they are also concerned about their futures.”
Islamic Relief will be carrying out more food distribution shortly, and plans to return to the villages to distribute tents and plastic sheeting.
